Effective Collaborator
The Effective Collaborator strand of the conceptual framework means that educators are expected to work together. As future teachers, we will be part of a larger staff that functions as a team. Though teachers are often on their own in their classrooms, collaboration is still crucial to the success of a school. By learning from each other, teachers can strengthen their own practice while also helping the school community to improve.
This paper is absurdly long, but it is a good example of my ability to collaborate with another student teacher with regards to a strategy to improve reading comprehension and discussion skills. The two of us researched the Questioning the Author strategy and implemented the strategy in our two classrooms. Though we each used the strategy with different lessons, we collaborated to evaulate the effectiveness of the strategy as well as possible ways of improving it.
